The Arc of Spokane is searching for motivated, enthusiastic, and dependable people to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the areas of independent living, community skills, personal care and safety. We offer paid on the job training and will assist you in obtaining all required certifications to work in this field. Your schedule flexibility is key. Hours will vary depending on the needs of each Supported Living Site.

**Minimum Requirements**
Minimum age 18
Completed HS Diploma or GED
Must pass an FBI fingerprint background check
Legible handwriting & good communication skills
Basic computer proficiency
Reliable transportation (driver's license & proof of insurance) for most positions
Work schedules and hours available, vary by each site. (Days, Swing, NOC-Shift)
Must be able to attend the paid training and obtain certifications

Wage is $13.00/hr, Medical, Dental, Life insurance benefits at 30+ hours per week, Vacation, sick, personal leave time + premium paid holidays.

2. Semi-Retired or Retired LPN or RN

Have you "been there and done that" with the politics of big hospital work? Or the pressure of high resident-to-staff ratios in nursing care facilities? Are you semi-retired or retired and looking for a shift or few per week? Be part of our group of dedicated caregivers! We offer a fun and low-key work environment in a beautiful and well-organized home serving four young adults in Spokane Valley.

Our nurses provide treatments, ongoing assessment, administer medications and tube feedings, coordinate care with physicians and pharmacy, and work cooperatively with the nursing assistant team.

Full time with benefits or part-time, $21.50 - $28.18 per hour. Not physically demanding, 1:4 client ratio, Check us out; you'll be glad you did!

3. Driver- Thrift Store

Local DRIVER to pick up Donations for The Arc of Spokane!
Work as part of our production team and drive our truck in the Spokane area to pick up donations. Full time, 40 hour per week position, excellent benefits, $14.00 per hour DOE, Tuesday through Saturday. Driving knowledge of Spokane and surrounding areas helpful.

Requirements: Must be at least 21, have a valid WA driver's license minimum 5 years, (CDL not required), clean driving record for the past three years which will ensure acceptance of agency insurance, good verbal skills, impeccable customer service, ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly, and work in various weather conditions. You must also be able to pass the required background check.

4. Employment Specialist

The Arc of Spokane is seeking individuals to support persons with developmental disabilities in finding and maintaining employment. Working as part of a team you will assist in the full employment cycle for our clients.

This includes working closely with our clients and their advocates to identify client skills, strengths, interests and support needs. This may entail facilitating planning meetings and taking a primary role in leading the exploration of employment possibilities and using the input of the client and/or other meeting participants to construct a thorough picture of the individual's employment opportunities and goals. You will create a written service plan for each client that describes the strategies and specific steps that lead to finding and/or maintaining successful employment. Additionally, you will develop job placements, assessment opportunities, and volunteer work sites through building relationships with employers. You will assist in resume preparation, application processes, and interview skills to match people with developmental disabilities to jobs in the community that fit their needs and abilities, ensuring success for both the employee and the employer. Finally, you will assist clients in maintaining attendance, communication, and mastering their job responsibilities; coaches may also arrange transportation for their clients. Experience with The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) is a very strong plus with this position!

Qualified candidates will possess initiative, creativity, strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and keen organizational skills. Additionally, they will demonstrate patience, integrity, diplomacy, and sensitivity to the needs of our clients, will be able to work independently as well as in teams, and will be committed to the idea that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are valuable employees and make significant contributions to the workplace. A sales/marketing background is helpful. Flexible schedule, work hours are driven by client needs and may include nights and weekends.

5. Development and Communication Coordinator

Are you looking to assist the leading non-profit in the disability industry grow in the community and generate a surplus of resources? The Arc of Spokane is currently searching for an energetic and a self-starter to join our team as a Development and Communications Coordinator. This is a unique position that will help our organization rise above our established strategic goals. This position will work directly with members of the management team and Director of Development and Communication. Join our supportive and inclusive team and make a difference for individuals with disabilities and their families! 

Summary/Objective:

To provide support in the process of planning, organizing, and collaboration with the Director of Development and Communications for all The Arc of Spokane’s fund-raising efforts, including but not limited to; general fundraisers, grant writing, capital campaigns, and other special events. This position will coordinate volunteers for the agency. This position will ensure that all activities undertaken and maintained are done so in a professional and goal-oriented manner.

The successful candidate will have the following qualities:

•          Superb written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

•          Ability to effectively manage others (volunteers).

•          Excellent time management skills.

•          Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete

variables in a situation where only limited standardization exists.

•          Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral,

diagram or schedule form.

•          Creative and self-initiative.

•          Donor and volunteer service mentality.

•          Ability to work in a team and individually.

•          Ability to multi-task including directing several projects at one time.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 18 years of age

  • High-school diploma or GED

  • Must be able to successfully pass required background checks

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Marketing, Business, Public Relations, Communication, Journalism and/or 2-4 years of progressive non-profit or development or communication or volunteer coordination experience.

  • Reliable transportation available for work-related use and valid driver’s license with proof of liability insurance; willingness to travel to sites for program activities.

  • Ability and willingness to interact with the public, give presentations and effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders.

  • Must be able to lift event boxes, tables and chairs that weigh 25-30 lbs.

  • Computer skills including MS Office, email, donor specific software and social media platforms.

This position is part-time, 32.5 hours per week. A typical schedule is Monday - Friday 8:30a - 4:00p but may flex to meet the needs of fundraisers and other special events. Some evenings and possible weekends occasionally. $15-$17.25 per hour DOE including medical, dental, life insurances and retirement once eligibility criteria is met. Vacation, sick, personal leave, and paid holidays.
