DIVISION OF VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION

The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) supports people with disabilities who want to work but face substantial barriers in finding meaningful and sustained employment. They provide individualized employment services and counseling as well as technical assistance.

THE ARC OF SPOKANE SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT

The Arc of Spokane provides employment services for people with IDD through DDA and DVR. The Arc offers:

  • Individual Supported Employment

  • Group Supported Employment

  • Individual Technical Assistance

THE BRIDGE PROJECT

The Bridge Project is a program through Spokane County that helps bridge the funding gap for people with disabilities who need employment services but do not have a Medicaid waiver to pay for those services. The Bridge Project can pay for services to help you prepare for and get employment such as:

  • Job Preparation

  • Job Exploration

  • Job Development

  • Job Coaching

PEER SPOKANE

Peer Spokane cultivates powerful, healthy lives by providing peer emotional support and developmental services to those impacted by addiction and/or mental health. They offer peer coaching, support groups, housing support, and employment support.

FOUNDATIONAL COMMUNITY SUPPORTS

If you do not qualify for DDA services but are homeless, addicted, or dealing with mental health issues, you may qualify for Foundational Community Supports (FCS). Foundational Community Supports is an ongoing medical service that treats homelessness and joblessness as a health disparity. FCS is billed through Medicaid and provides supported housing and supported employment services for Apple Health-eligible beneficiaries with complex needs. Amerigroup Washington, Inc. works with housing and employment providers to help clients find and maintain jobs; acquire stable, independent housing; and gain the necessary skills to be successful.

RESOURCE CENTER OF SPOKANE COUNTY

The Resource Center of Spokane County provides resources and support to help ensure that all aspects of a person’s personal and professional life are addressed in order to increase their opportunities. Just some of the services they provide include: free cell phone programs; low-cost internet service and computer equipment; energy assistance; SSI and SSDI assistance; Financial Literacy, Responsible Renters, and First-Time Home Buyers classes; Substance-Use Disorder and mental health assessments and referrals; counseling referrals; assistance in signing up for State medical insurance; and work readiness programs.

NEXT GENERATION ZONE

The Next Generation Zone provides education, career skills training, employment, and community resources to young adults ages 16-24. They seek to explore, inspire, and motivate the skills and interests of young adults and provide exposure to the world of work. The young adults of Spokane County have their own career one-stop center that allows them to achieve success in their life and career goals.
