TRANSITION & YOUNG ADULT PROGRAMS

Transition & Young Adult Programs (TYAP) support teens and young adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) as they transition into adulthood, whatever that may look like for them!

EXPLORERS

Explorers is The Arc of Spokane’s one-on-one mentoring service that matches a teen or young adult with IDD to a college-aged mentor. Together, they explore the individual’s interests and goals out in the community!

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

This DDA waiver service is set up via an individual’s DDA case manager. Similar to Explorers, participants are paired up with a staff member to support them in reaching community-oriented goals.

ADULTING 101

These monthly life skills classes focus on building community and providing education on topics like internet safety, healthy relationships, self-advocacy, and more. Click here to learn about our current offerings.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

TYAP provides an offering of social activities throughout the year such as karaoke nights, pancake breakfasts, craft nights, and more. Click here to see current activities and sign up!

SUMMER WITH A PURPOSE

During the summer months, TYAP provides an increased number of social activities during the week to decrease isolation and promote community involvement.

BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY SCHOOL FOR SUCCESS

The Business Opportunity School for Success (BOSS) is an entrepreneurial program run during the summer. Through the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), TYAP introduces high schoolers to the business opportunities they have available. Participants undergo educational workshops on the basics of running a business before becoming employees of The Arc. The rest of the summer is paid job experience creating, marketing, and selling products of their choice at local farmers markets!
