Family Support
Raising a child with a developmental disability can challenge a family's ability to cope: Parents and siblings often feel overwhelmed, finances get stretched to the limit and too often help seems far away. The Arc's Family Support program provides information, education, resources and emotional support for families struggling to meet the challenges they face every day. Our family support programs include:

Parent to Parent
Providing emotional support and information about health-care for children with special needs, this program matches new parents to experienced parents, hosts parent support groups and sibling workshops (SibShops), prints a newsletter and holds seminars on issues that are important to families. Spokane County Parent Coalition (SCPC)
Workshops, conferences and a newsletter offered by SCPC provide important information, education, resources and advocacy for families. Learn to be an advocate in one of our training seminars, or apply for a scholarship to pay for a family workshop. Spokane Father's Network
This program helps fathers share the joys and challenges of raising a child with special needs. Regular meetings provide emotional support as well as resources, advice and information about special health-care needs. The Senior Parents Support Group
As people in general are living longer, so are people with special needs--and their parents. This group allows parents with children over 30 to meet and discuss the unique challenges they face as senior parents, make plans for the future of their children and share new information through regular guest speakers. The Partnership
People with developmental disabilities are at greater riskof sexual assault than people without disabilities. The Partnership is committed to addressing the problem of sexual assault and abuse of people with developmental disabilities by educating individuals, families and providers and by increasing community awareness.
